Jail Ministry, Old School Style

I am always looking for positive African American male role models, because I want Christopher to grow up with a vision of what a good black man looks like. I had not thought about looking in a jail cell...until now. At www.worldmag.com/articles/15341, I read the story of California minister Walter Hoye. Mr. Hoye went to jail nearly a month and a half ago for trying to offer an alternative to people who were on their way to abort their children. While in jail, he became a minister to the inmates. He serves as an excellent example of faith, courage, and compassion. If Christopher (or Janet or I) ends up in jail, I hope it is for similar reasons and with similar results.

That is beautiful but also an outrage! I can't believe that this man was jailed for this. It just doesn't seem possible in America. His rights were violated, no the other way around! Definitely eye-opening. I would be so honored to meet this man, and I will in Glory one day, no doubt! Thanks for sharing this.

BTW, I just had to share this article on my facebook page. Thanks again.

Thanks, Christy. I really appreciate you for sharing the World Magazine article on your Facebook page. Perhaps you will inspire other Christians with your concern and boldness.

I don't have a Facebook account, but Janet does. When she wakes up, I'll see if she can find your page.

Also, if you don't subscibe to World Magazine, this would be a great time to start. I understand that new subscribers receive a free ESV Study Bible. (No, I don't receive a royalty for promoting the magazine. I just like it that much.)

I used to receive World magazine along with Answers, but they were gift subscriptions. When they ran out, I never renewed b/c of finances. I do miss reading both of those magazines, though.

My facebook account is "Christy Ellis".

Janet could not find you on Facebook. She said that there were over 100 people named Christy Ellis. Is there another way to find your page? If not, could you find her (Janet Laudett)?

OK, I just requested her as a friend and sent her a message. How fun! ;0)
